Spring Hill High School

Band Information 2008-2009

Band is a commitment.  Each band member is expected to keep his or her part of the commitment.  When band members are missing from rehearsal and/or performances, the entire band is hurt.  Band members are required to be at all performances and rehearsals.   It is also important that you realize that a marching show is written to include a specific number of people on the field.  Once a show is written, if a member drops out, there will always be an empty spot on the field where that person would have marched.  Please consider this carefully before committing to band.

The Band commitment includes:

            Attending every after school rehearsal

Learning how to play your part (practicing at home)

            Not disrupting rehearsals

Giving 100% in each rehearsal and performance

Being present and on time at every performance

If you are committed and would like to be a part of the Spring Hill High School Band, please visit www.springhillband.org and print off the medical release form and the band student registration form. After filling out the forms, send them to Mr. Jack at Spring Hill High School with a $100 deposit. Forms and fees should be returned by May 2, 2008.  Forms and fees received after May 2, 2008 may become alternates if the marching drill has already started being written.

All rehearsals will take place at Spring Hill High School.  Wear cool, light colored clothes and good tennis shoes that are secure to your feet.  Do not wear sandals or shoes that have an open heel.  Bring a water jug with water, sunscreen, hat, your instrument, your music, and a pencil.

Kroger Cards (A good way to pay for trips and fees of the future.)

If you use a Kroger Gift Card from the Spring Hill Band, 4% of what you load on your card goes to your students account with the band.  Gift cards may be used for groceries, at fuel centers, and with prescriptions.  Cards cost $5 per card (they start with a $5 balance) and must be purchased from Mr. Jack to qualify for this program.  You can load up to $500 at a time on your card.  Keep your card and keep reloading it for additional funds.  If you would like a Kroger’s Card please let Mr. Jack know.

Additional cards can be used by neighbors, friends, grandparents, etc. throughout the country (but the card must be purchased from Mr. Jack).

Shoes

All band and flag members are required to have a pair of band uniform shoes.  These can only be purchased through the Spring Hill High School Band.  Shoes will be available to try on during the uniform fitting.  The cost of the shoes is around $40.  The fee wavier does not cover these.
