Jack's Are Better
Band director strives for best out of students

Take note: Daryl Jack has been director of the Spring Hill High School Marching Band for nearly two decades.

It was actually in 1987 when Mr. Jack left his native California for the beautiful rolling landscape of Tennessee.

A few years later, he became band director at SHHS, where he has been ever since.

"What I enjoy most in my role here is watching my students grow and become aware of new things," he says. "I strive to have everyone in the band be the absolute best they can be."

Besides serving as director, Mr. Jack enjoys watching the Spring Hill sporting events wherever the band performs.

"Probably my favorite sports moment was the Spring Hill football game last year at Lexington (SHHS won, 35-7)," he says. "That was exciting and great for our school."

Away from the bandstand, Mr. Jack enjoys working with wood. He makes some of the most beautiful wooden bowls you could ever hope to see.

And as for his favorite musical instrument to personally play, is it the piano, drums, guitar or clarinet?

"It's actually the bassoon," he says. "I also like the saxophone, but the bassoon is my favorite."
